From Our Pastor

Although our pastor Jim Kidd has recently retired, his sentiments still hold true while we search for a new pastor.

Hello, I’m Jim Kidd and the pastor of what I believe is one of the best churches anywhere. I believe that our motto, “The church where everybody is somebody and Jesus Christ is everything.” is an accurate description of our church.  I have had the privilege and honor of serving as pastor here at Haven since March of 1999. I can truly say that I have never served with a more loving and caring group of Christians than those here.

I am one of the few “near natives” of Madison County in that I was raised in Huntsville, graduated from Huntsville High School, received my Associates degree from Calhoun Community College, and my Bachelors degree from Athens State College, now Athens University. In 1994 my wife and I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where I received my Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Following Seminary, I served as pastor of Ebro Baptist Church in Ebro, Florida and then God called me to Haven Baptist, here in Madison, AL.

Haven Baptist is proud to be affiliated with the Madison Baptist Association, the Alabama Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We are a church that deeply believes in and supports mission efforts on the local front and around the world. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He was born of a virgin, was crucified on the cross at Calvary for the sins of mankind, was resurrected from the dead on the third day and later ascended to Heaven where He is our intercessor to the Father. We believe that He is visually, personally, and triumphantly coming again and that He will set up His New Kingdom here on earth.

I want to personally invite you to come and worship with us and become active in the fulfillment of the Great Commission as described in Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8.

In Christ’s Service,
Brother Jim
